Open letter to President Elect Barack Obama

Considering what you are facing in the years ahead I don’t know if I should say congratulations or not, Time will tell.

My first question;
Leaving the existing oil and gas wells in the hands of the companies which own and operate them.
Why couldn’t the U.S. government nationalize the future wells that will be drilled on government property and offshore and use the profit to pay the national debt and the mandated programs like Social Security and healthcare (Medicare and Medicaid)?

When I sent this question to a friend,
I received this reply;
“I could not agree with you more. Enough is enough. Let’s put this country back on the track it used to be. I still think taking the $65 Billion that the A.I.G. is to get should go to every American over 18, that would be $714,000.00 per person, then tax that to the tune of $130 grand each, so the government gets some money back. Then watch how fast we spread the wealth around paying bills and buying necessities!”

To those who would say Socialism, I say why not? Gov. Palin in Alaska is receiving a windfall profit tax from the oil companies in the amount of $3,500 per citizen. I say to hell with the name, let’s put the people first for a change.
Today the oil and gas prices have come down. I hope the American people realize the only way to keep them down is alternative fuels and power sources and change from oil to natural gas.

The news today tells the A.I.G’s higher echelons are to receive over $500 million in bonuses.
If the stock holders or our government officials allow this to happen, I believe you will see a reaction from the public that will put Al Qaeda to shame. Remember Marie Antoinette.

In this day and time the public will be kept informed when men who have allowed their company to go “belly up” and thousands of people to lose their life savings, receive a reward. This will light a fuse that will be hard to extinguish.

About the war, I can only say that as long as there are any men in the countries we are at war with who are willing to die to drive out our troops, we will never win. To win this war we would have to kill everyone over there and this we don’t want to do. Let’s negotiate.

They say when Columbus left on his voyage he didn’t know where he was going, when he got there he didn’t know where he was, and when he returned he didn’t know where he had been. And he did all this on borrowed money. Kind of like this administration huh? Better luck with your administration.
