The Trip

Originally written December 21, 2007

You say your spirits are low,
You had a lousy day.
Take a trip to the halls of Congress,
And listen to what they have to say.
Their tribulations for each other,
Rings out loud and strong.
For their distinguished, honorable colleagues,
Who have worked so hard and long.
Then the dignified, senior Senator,
Steps up to the podium to say.
Our troops would be home,
Our debts would be gone.
If the members on the other side of the aisle,
Had left his bills alone.
The amendments from across the aisle,
And the earmarks late at night.
Had brought his country down from super power,
To it’s weakened plight.
The thousands of armored cars we are building,
Which will satisfy our guilt.
If this war will only last long enough,
To get the damn things built.
Don’t ask our honored colleagues,
For your to dumb to understand.
How the countries we defeated in war,
Are now buying up our land.
One other question I’ll admit,
The answer I cannot guess.
Is when our educated congressmen,
Are asked a simple question,
And cannot answer with a no or yes.
The word has always been,
That Congress works for its citizens.
So will you tell me?
If American citizens feel the congressmen.
Have awarded themselves too much,
In salary and lavish perks each day?
How would you go about,
Giving them a cut in pay?
Here again is that complicated word,
Because I’m to dumb to say.
People say this administration has,
The best politician’s money can buy.
If you will check this six year record,
You will understand reason why.
I am sure most all agree,
The best thing we can do,
Is vote these people out of office,
And try to build anew.

i'm still wondering whatever happened to the term limits we voted for twice .
most of these creeps are in there for life. their main concern is to raise enough money from the corporations to get re-elected. last thing they need is a raise, what they deserve is a boot where the sun don't shine.
